The program
UNIFEI’s Graduation Program in Development, Technologies and Society was recommended by CAPES in 2011 and implemented at Universidade Federal de Itajubá in 2012. It is essentially a research space dedicated to experience exchange and to studying specific problems from different developing regions, in order to subsidize social, cultural and economic policies, both public and private, and integrating them according to the current global reality contingencies.
The Program’s activities are organized in disciplines, seminars, scientific debates with accredited researchers in the multidisciplinary area, groups and lines meetings, and assignment orientations aiming for research and scientific dissertation.
Students are expected to produce knowledge, information, strategies and actions on development, technologies, social technologies, cities, culture, work, education and identity in different knowledge areas, integrating them according to a multidisciplinary view.
Research Lines
Development and Society
Studies development understanding that it should not be exclusively linked to economic growth, given that the industrialization process, aggravated by technological and informational advances, have social and environmental consequences, visibly demarcated by the institutionalization of a given economic model. The program seeks, based on the previous statement, to analyse development in its many angles (economic, environmental and social), considering also the roles of the State, market, civil society and social movements.
Development and Technologies
Technology can be understood as the knowledge coming from scientific processes and that materialize in tools, processes, methodologies, materials and products created and used from such knowledge. Therefore, this research line aims to study these technologies as a way of fomenting and strengthening social, environmental and / or economic development, contemplating technologies aligned to development through Innovation, Education, Organizations and Social Technologies.
