Black Bee Drones
Black Bee Drones was born from a research project in mid-2014, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Alexandre Carlos Brandão Ramos who is currently the team’s coordinator.
The research project turned into a Technological Competition Project at the beginning of the first half of 2015.
The team is currently composed of 23 members, subdivided into Electronics, Management and Mechanics teams.
We aim to develop unmanned aircraft capable of performing complex missions that require a high level of artificial intelligence.
In 2015, we participated in the IMAV Competition (International Micro Air Vehicles), held in Aachen, Germany.
In addition to the competition, the event has a conference where presentations of various works and articles that are related to the topic of unmanned aerial vehicles take place.
One of the team’s founders presented a work that is part of his master’s thesis in Computer Science and Technology at UNIFEI.
Black Bee Drones won third place and drew praise from all the organizers who were extremely surprised that we had come so far, that we were so successful in our first participation and that we only had undergraduate members, unlike everyone else. the other teams where the members are masters, doctors and PhDs.
This fact meant that we also won a special award given by the organization and six more licenses from MATLAB and Simulink, in addition to the trophy for third place.
