Ex Machina

Ex Machina is an extension group at the Federal University of Itajubá that develops devices, techniques and processes to increase human performance. The main objective is to improve the quality of life of people with some type of physical disability, trying to give them back some of the basic functions of the human body with the development of devices, techniques and processes for reintegration into society, always seeking to innovate, bringing technologies that best adapt to people, specializing in the manufacture of upper limb prostheses from 3D model printing. We currently have 26 members from different UNIFEI courses divided into 5 areas (mechanics, electronics, programming, management and marketing) and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Otávio De Souza Martins Gomes.

Ex Machina, in addition to the development of 3D printing prostheses, works with social actions in the region of Itajubá, developing work in organizations such as CAIDI (Center for Support and Integration of the Disabled of Itajubá) and APAE (Association of Parents and Friends of Exceptional), ranging from visits to projects carried out jointly.

Started in 2014, Ex Machina is a pioneer in the field of assistive technology in academia and wants to go beyond the search for competition, wants to further develop research in the area of ​​rehabilitation and assistive engineering. Going beyond pure knowledge, we want to help people. Combining dedication to the best in man and the best in machine, or simply, Ex Machina.
