The program

Unifei’s Graduate Program in Materials Engineering aims for forming qualified professionals who can tackle the challenges imposed by new technologies in the 21st Century. Its multidisciplinary approach develops research in Materials Engineering involving knowledge in Chemistry, Physics, Metallurgy, and Biology, allowing the development of new materials that meet the ever-evolving demands of science and technology in universities and in the labor market.

The program’s main goals

  • Investing in forming people to meet the demands of qualified professionals, acting in industries and research and development centers, either public or private, and acting as university professors, especially in the Material Engineering area, both in the regional and national labor markets.
  • Inter and multidisciplinarity as means of forming professionals who can work in distinct areas, solving scientific problems and developing new knowledge, acting on the scientific knowledge border. Materials Engineering is an interdisciplinary area by definition; however, in our program, we explore this characteristic to the extreme.
  • Acting in research development, aiming for production and characterization of metallic, ceramics, polymers, semiconductor composites and insulators, with applications such as in sensors, devices, actuators and biomaterials.
