The program

Mathematics in Brazil, from a scientific standpoint, has reached a praiseworthy level for a country lacking proper scientific structure. Our scientific production is very good and some of our mathematicians are acknowledged internationally. However, despite having grown substantially in the last decades, the educational capacity in the national graduate system is still below the country’s needs. In order to quell national urges for expansion and decentralization of Graduate Programs in Mathematics, UNIFEI implemented its Masters Program in Mathematics (PMAT) in 2013.

UNIFEI’s Graduate Program in Mathematics aims to graduate qualified personnel for researching and teaching within the program’s contemplated areas. We seek to involve our students with research since their enrollment in the program. The program activities are organized in disciplines, seminars, assignment orientation, aiming for research and scientific dissertation.

Our strengths, which differentiate us from other masters programs, lie in the quality of scientific production, the geographic localization, the capacity to gather financial resources and in performing weekly seminars.
